The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) took the last ISIS stronghold on the 23rd of March, 2019, marking an end to the 5-year Caliphate.

Many different armed groups were involved in its fall; among them was the Kurdish anti-jihadist militia People’s Defense Unit (YPG). We follow one of their volunteers, the Swedish Kurdish combat medic Firat, as he returned to Syria to fight the last battle against ISIS.
